From its clear-channel home at 650 AM in Nashville, WSM is the station that put country music on the map. It has carried the Grand Ole Opry every week since 1925 — the longest-running radio broadcast in American history — and its 50,000-watt signal still blankets the eastern United States at night. Today WSM mixes Opry broadcasts, classic and contemporary country, and Americana, remaining the spiritual home of the genre it helped create.
