Over the West Online Radio was founded in November 2023 by Donegal singer-songwriter Maria McCormack and officially launched in Letterkenny in May 2024, born of a simple frustration: emerging Irish artists could not get their music played on mainstream radio. Its motto — 'You Create It, We Play It' — says it all. Outside the live shows, a jukebox plays only Irish emerging artists, with more than 300 acts in daily rotation, while a team of DJs from across the country hosts evening programmes, including an All Irish Show and folk and independent music shows.
