J1 Gold is the nostalgia channel of the J1 network, playing the greatest hits from the later Showa era — the 1950s through 1989 — including some modern enka releases. There is no bubbly modern J-Pop here; alongside sister channels J1 Hits and J1 XTRA (Heisei-era hits), Gold completes the network's sweep through modern Japanese popular music history.
