Newstalk ZB is NZME's national news and talkback network and consistently New Zealand's most-listened-to commercial station. Based in Auckland, where it broadcasts on 1080 AM and 89.4 FM, it traces back to 1ZB, which adopted the talk format in 1987 before the brand spread nationwide. The Mike Hosking Breakfast anchors the schedule, alongside drive and evening talkback, live sport and rolling news. Local newsrooms feed regional opt-outs, but the formula everywhere is the same: big interviews, strong opinions and callers driving the conversation.
