Nostalgia is the format on Department Store Christmas, SomaFM's seasonal channel of holiday 'elevator music from a more innocent time.' It recreates the sound of Christmas shopping in the 1950s, 60s and 70s: lush orchestral, beautiful-music arrangements of carols and standards of the kind that once drifted over department-store loudspeakers. Like all SomaFM stations it is listener-supported and commercial-free, broadcasting from San Francisco, where the network has run since 2000.
