Smooth Groove Radio 'The Vibe' is an independent online station built by founder Ron Holloway, a jazz historian and Navy veteran based in Phoenix, Arizona. On air since the late 2000s and self-funded throughout, it curates contemporary and smooth jazz alongside R&B and soul — artists like Boney James define the sound. Holloway's taste was shaped at Howard University during WHUR's Quiet Storm era, and that late-night, soulful polish runs through the whole station.
