Radio Tyneside is the hospital radio service for Newcastle upon Tyne, one of Britain's longest-running stations of its kind, founded in 1951. It broadcasts to patients in the city's hospitals, including the Royal Victoria Infirmary and Freeman Hospital, and now also online to the wider community. Run by volunteers, it combines music requests, local football coverage and entertainment designed specifically for listeners in hospital wards.
