JAZZ.FM91 — CJRT-FM at 91.1 in Toronto — has a claim few stations can match: it signed on November 22, 1949 as Canada's first educational FM station, founded at what is now Toronto Metropolitan University. Independent and listener-supported since the 1970s, it switched to all-jazz in January 2001 and today runs as a charitable arts organization.
