The national broadcaster of the Federation, ZIZ Radio is run by the government-owned ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation from Basseterre, St. Kitts. The service traces its roots to experimental shortwave broadcasts in the 1930s and was relaunched in its modern form on 5 March 1961, later adding a television arm in 1972. Today it broadcasts around the clock on 555 AM and across four FM frequencies — 95.9, 96.1, 96.3 and 96.9 — carrying news, current affairs, sport, music and cultural programming to listeners on both islands.
