YONECO FM, or YFM, is the radio station of Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO), a Zomba-based NGO founded in 1997 to protect the rights of young people, women and children. Launched in 2014 and billing itself as the real voice of the youth, women and children, it was Malawi’s first youth-focused station and now broadcasts 24 hours a day with nationwide coverage. Its programmes tackle child protection, gender-based violence, health and governance, and the station runs a mentorship scheme that trains children as young journalists.
