Metro Plus, broadcasting on AM 1044, is the multicultural arm of Hong Kong's Metro Broadcast, which has been on air since 1991. Originally launched as the English-language Metro News, the channel was rebranded Metro Plus and today serves Hong Kong's many communities in their own languages, with programming in English alongside segments in Indonesian, Filipino and other tongues for the city's ethnic minority audiences. News, music and community information share the schedule, making AM 1044 one of the most linguistically diverse spots on Hong Kong's dial — a station built, as Metro puts it, on the idea that radio should have no language boundary.
