RTHK Radio 3 is where Hong Kong radio began. Launched on 30 June 1928 — the territory’s first-ever broadcast station, originally under the call sign GOW — it is today RTHK’s English-language service, heard across Hong Kong on AM 567, with FM relays on 97.9, 106.8 and 107.8 MHz in selected districts. Its weekday spine is unmistakably Hong Kong: ‘Hong Kong Today’ wakes the city up, ‘Money Talk’ tracks the markets, ‘Backchat’ opens the phone lines, and ‘The 1 2 3 Show’ carries the afternoon. Radio 3 also launched the charity drive Operation Santa Claus in the 1980s, now a Christmas institution. Press play and hear Hong Kong in English, live.
