WWOZ 90.7 is New Orleans' jazz and heritage station — "the Guardians of the Groove." Founded in 1980 and owned by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, it broadcasts the living sounds of its city: traditional and modern jazz, blues, brass bands, funk, gospel and Cajun and zydeco music, much of it performed live in its studios. During Jazz Fest it relays sets straight from the fairgrounds, and its volunteer show hosts are walking encyclopedias of Louisiana music.
