WHRB 95.3 FM is Harvard University's student-run station in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a lineage stretching to carrier-current WHCN, which debuted in 1940; the FM station followed in 1957 and settled at 95.3 a year later. WHRB is famous for its twice-yearly Orgy marathons — a tradition legendarily born in 1943 when a student celebrated the end of exams by playing all nine Beethoven symphonies — plus long-running shows like Hillbilly at Harvard, the Jazz Spectrum and late-night Record Hospital.
