Few American stations carry a century of their city's history, but WGN 720 in Chicago does. It began in 1922 as WDAP; the Chicago Tribune bought it in 1924 and renamed it for the paper's slogan, "World's Greatest Newspaper." Its 50,000-watt Class A clear-channel signal reaches across the Midwest and deep into the night sky-wave. Today WGN is Chicago's news, talk and sports voice — local hosts by day, and the radio home of the Chicago Blackhawks.
