Few call letters carry more American radio history than WABC. First on the air on 1 October 1921 as WJZ, the New York station took the WABC name in 1953 and broadcasts at 770 AM with 50,000 watts as a clear-channel signal. As 'Musicradio 77' it was the legendary Top 40 powerhouse of 1960–1982; since 1982 it has been talk — today a conservative lineup owned by John Catsimatidis's Red Apple Media, including Sid Rosenberg's 'Sid & Friends in the Morning', Brian Kilmeade, Curtis Sliwa and Mark Levin.
