Dominicans have turned to Voice of Life Radio for gospel music and Bible teaching since it began broadcasting in 1976. Set up by American missionaries who came to the island in 1974, it started life as Voice of Hope on 1060 AM, took its present name after moving to 740 AM, and carried on through FM relays — 102.1 around Roseau, 90.7 in Portsmouth and 106.1 in Marigot — once the AM transmitter closed in 2004. From its base at Madrelle in Loubiere, the station runs magazine programmes, airs church and community notices on its Bulletin Board, and relays Moody Broadcasting Network shows through the night.
