New Zealand's biggest rock brand began life in Hamilton on 1 December 1991 as The Rock 93FM, opening with AC/DC's Are You Ready. Now owned by MediaWorks and heard nationwide, it targets rock fans aged 25 to 44 with mainstream rock, new Kiwi bands and larrikin humour. Weekday breakfast belongs to The Morning Rumble, led by Roger Farrelly, who has been with the station since its Hamilton days. Its signature event is The Rock 2000, the annual listener-voted countdown of the greatest rock songs ever recorded.
