Electropop and indie dance rock drive PopTron, SomaFM's most caffeinated channel. SomaFM is the listener-supported, commercial-free web network Rusty Hodge founded in San Francisco in 2000 after a 1999 Burning Man micropower experiment, and PopTron is its top-40-from-another-universe outlet: synth-heavy hooks, blog-house favourites and guitar bands with drum machines. Nothing here chases the mainstream charts; the playlist favours catchy tracks that commercial radio tends to overlook.
