Lush is the SomaFM channel devoted to sensuous, mellow vocals, mostly from female singers, layered over soft electronic and acoustic backings. It comes from SomaFM, the San Francisco internet radio service Rusty Hodge launched in February 2000 and which still runs commercial-free on listener donations. Where most SomaFM channels lean instrumental, Lush puts the human voice up front — think downtempo pop, dreamy indie and late-night soul, mixed for slow evenings rather than the dancefloor.
