Broadcasting from the small Waikato town of Te Aroha, Sleep Radio plays pure ambient music twenty-four hours a day for people who struggle to sleep. Every piece is auditioned by founder John Watson before airplay: no vocals, no beats, nothing sudden or startling, much of it sent in by ambient artists worldwide seeking exposure. Locals can also hear it on 88 FM in Te Aroha between midnight and 6am. Most of its global audience, fittingly, is asleep for most of the broadcast.
