This stream carries RTÉ 2FM, the pop music service of Ireland's national broadcaster. Launched in 1979 as RTÉ Radio 2 and heard on 90–92 FM, 2FM was built for younger audiences and has launched generations of Irish broadcasting talent, from Gerry Ryan to Ryan Tubridy. Its playlist centres on current chart hits mixed with new Irish music, and the station plays a central role in the country's live music calendar through festival coverage and its 2FM Rising new-artist initiative.
