RNZ Pacific is Radio New Zealand’s international service and New Zealand’s only shortwave broadcaster. New Zealand has broadcast to the Pacific since 1948; the modern service relaunched as Radio New Zealand International on 24 January 1990 with a new 100kW transmitter, and was renamed RNZ Pacific in 2017. From Wellington studios and the Rangitaiki transmitter site, it broadcasts news, current affairs and sport in English and news in seven Pacific languages, reaching from East Timor to French Polynesia and providing a trusted cyclone watch in emergencies. This 64kbps AAC stream carries that service online.
