Retro Hit Radio is an Auckland internet station with roots in low-power FM: it began broadcasting on Waitangi Day, 6 February 2004, first on 106.9 FM in Otahuhu and then 88.1 FM across Manukau. After its FM era ended it relaunched online in December 2013. The format is a lovingly built library of 1980s and 90s hits, not just the obvious ones: pop, rock, dance, new wave, soul and early hip hop, modelled on the energy of classic Auckland top-40 radio.
