Vatican Radio's English service carries the Pope's voice to listeners across the English-speaking world, from Europe and North America to Africa, India, Australia and the Philippines. The English Language Programme was launched in 1937, six years after Guglielmo Marconi built the station for Pius XI, and dedicated broadcasts to Africa followed in 1950. Its news, live papal liturgies and in-depth features now stream worldwide as part of Vatican News.
