Radio Poland is the external service of Polish Radio, Poland's public broadcaster — this stream carries its English-language output. The service dates back to 1936, when Polish Radio began shortwave broadcasts in English and Polish; it took its current name in 2014, having earlier operated as Radio Polonia and the Polish Radio External Service. Since all shortwave transmissions ended in October 2013, it has been online-only, broadcasting in six languages — Polish, English, German, Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian — with English available around the clock. Its news, analysis and features about Polish politics, business and culture also appear on the thenews.pl website.
