Radio Leinster is a name steeped in Irish pirate radio history, revived for the streaming age. The original station broadcast to Dublin from 1981 to 1983 on 738 AM and 93 FM, standing out from chart-obsessed rivals with an easy-listening format and specialist programmes covering jazz, classical music, musicals and Irish traditional music. In 2020, former presenter David Baker brought the name back as an online station, with original voices including Gordon Sommerville and Daphne Mitchell returning to the microphone. The new Radio Leinster recreates that distinctive sound — easy listening mixed with specialist shows, some broadcast in Irish — for listeners worldwide.
