Bengaluru's first community radio station, Radio Active broadcasts on 90.4 MHz under a licence held by Jain University and has been on air since 2007. Its programmes are made by the communities it serves — waste pickers, auto drivers, garment workers and transgender activists among them — in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu and English, covering a roughly 15-kilometre radius of the city with talk on health, livelihoods, rights and neighbourhood life.
