Power Hit FM has been Christchurch's low-power pop station since it started broadcasting on 5 December 2005. Transmitting on 87.8 FM across central Christchurch and streaming worldwide, it is a non-commercial, community-focused hobby station run under a OneMusic licence. True to its slogan "Less Talk, More Music", the format is wall-to-wall hits — chart pop and dance alongside favourites from past decades — broken up by local information, community notices, weather, news and sport. Specialist shows add flavour, including Nothing But The Nineties, a weekly two-hour dive into the decade's less obvious tracks.
