This AAC stream carries Planet FM 104.6, Auckland's community access station, in higher-quality digital audio. Planet FM began in 1987 as Access Community Radio Auckland, broadcast on 810 AM from 1989, and rebranded on moving to 104.6 FM in 2000; it is now based at Unitec's Mt Albert campus. The station itself makes no programmes — it provides studios, training and airtime so community groups can make their own. The result is more than 100 programmes in over 30 languages, reflecting multicultural Tāmaki Makaurau, supported by NZ On Air as part of the access radio network.
