OZ FM — CHOZ-FM 94.7 in St. John's — calls itself 'The Rock of the Rock,' and its transmitter network carries mainstream rock across Newfoundland. Owned by Newfoundland Broadcasting, the Stirling family company behind NTV, it launched June 15, 1977 at 93.9 before moving to 94.7 in 1984, and its morning show The Dawn Patrol became a provincial institution.
