This is not music radio but a live ear on the Sanriku coast: a coastal soundscape stream from Otsuchi, Iwate, home to the University of Tokyo's coastal research centre — a marine field station established in 1973 where warm and cold currents converge offshore. Waves, wind and shore birds form the programme. The centre's original buildings were destroyed in the 2011 tsunami and rebuilt on higher ground in 2018, which gives this quiet feed of a recovering coastline an added resonance.
