This numbered stream carries NHK World Radio Japan, the international radio service of Japan's public broadcaster NHK, headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo. The service traces back to overseas shortwave broadcasts launched on 1 June 1935 and resumed after the war as Radio Japan in 1952; today it broadcasts in 18 languages by shortwave, satellite and internet. Expect Tokyo-produced news, current affairs and cultural features presenting Japan and Asia to the world — one of several numbered variants of the same global service.
