Newtown Radio is a free-form internet station broadcasting from Bushwick, Brooklyn, founded in 2009 in a former brewery by Mark Brinda, Tariq Abdus-Sabur and Colin Ilgen. Named for Newtown Creek, it hands the microphone to local bloggers, artists, labels and DJs around the clock, championing north Brooklyn's underground music scene. In 2015 it even co-curated concerts with MoMA's PopRally series — DIY radio with genuine cultural reach.
