Born out of lockdown in 2020, Mouthfull Radio grew from an Aotearoa arts collective that had already spent about three years putting on gigs, workshops and zines. The independent, non-profit online station now broadcasts 24/7 from Wellington, Auckland, Mangawhai and further afield, with a loose roster of community hosts rather than a fixed commercial playlist. Shows range across underground dance, indie, jazz and experimental sounds, alongside talk and live broadcasts from venues. Modelled in spirit on overseas community platforms, it functions as a digital gathering place — complete with a busy website chatroom — for open-eared listeners and first-time presenters alike.
