MIJ FM is the radio station of the Malawi Institute of Journalism in Blantyre, on air since 2001 as a hands-on training ground for the institute’s journalism students. It broadcasts news, current affairs and talk in English and Chichewa, and has built a reputation for independent, critical reporting that public broadcasters often avoid. The institute behind it, founded in 1995, is Malawi’s dedicated journalism training school.
