KUSC (91.5 FM) is Los Angeles' non-commercial classical station, owned by the University of Southern California and now the flagship of the Classical California network. It first broadcast on October 24, 1946, as a student-run station and converted to full-time classical music in April 1973. Listener-supported and commercial-free, KUSC has carried Los Angeles Philharmonic performances since 1978 and ranks among the most-listened-to classical stations in the United States.
