Kool FM first broadcast on 28 November 1991 on 94.5 FM from Clapton, east London, and became known as the first pirate station to play hardcore jungle. Writers have called it the single most important pirate in jungle's development, with DJs and MCs including Brockie, Ragga Twins, Andy C and Skibadee passing through. Relaunched online as Kool London in 2010, it was acquired by Rinse FM in 2023 and now broadcasts on London DAB.
