Komboni Radio began broadcasting in 2013 as the voice of Lusaka's kombonis — the capital's informal settlements — and airs on 94.9 FM. It broadcasts in the street language of the compounds, a mix of English, Nyanja and Bemba, uses local musicians as DJs and keeps advertising cheap for small local businesses.
