Mana'o Radio — KMNO 91.7 FM in Wailuku — is Maui County's only listener-supported, all-music, commercial-free independent station. It first broadcast on March 11, 2002 from founders Kathy Collins and Barry Shannon's home, and upgraded to a full-power 1,200-watt signal in 2014. All-volunteer DJs hand-craft an eclectic mix — Hawaiian, jazz, world, rock and more — under a name that means 'thought and knowledge' in Hawaiian.
