Portland's KBOO 90.7 has been listener-supported community radio since June 3, 1968. Run by the KBOO Foundation with a small staff and hundreds of volunteers, it airs free-form programming — local news and public affairs beside wildly eclectic music — with a mission to serve communities underrepresented elsewhere. Affiliated with the Pacifica network, it also reaches Hood River and Philomath through translators, and remains proudly unpolished, independent and local.
