Jakaranda FM — bearing the Afrikaans spelling of its name — is the same Gauteng powerhouse known nationally as Jacaranda FM, on air since New Year’s Day 1986. Privatised in 1997 and now part of Kagiso Media, it broadcasts hit music, news and entertainment in English and Afrikaans to Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and the North West. Its name honours the jacaranda trees synonymous with its original home city, Pretoria.
