Jacaranda FM is one of South Africa’s largest independent radio stations, broadcasting in English and Afrikaans across Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and the North West. It began at midnight on 1 January 1986, launched by the SABC as Radio Jacaranda and named after the jacaranda trees that colour Pretoria’s streets purple each spring. Now part of Kagiso Media, it reaches around two million listeners a week with hit music and entertainment.
