IRIE FM went on air on 1 August 1990 from Ocho Rios, St Ann, and made history as the world’s first 24-hour all-reggae radio station. Run by Grove Broadcasting, it blankets Jamaica on a chain of 107 FM frequencies and built its name — Innovative Radio Inspiring Everyone — on roots reggae, dancehall, news and talk. For many listeners at home and abroad, this is simply the sound of Jamaica itself.
