Infowars is the Austin, Texas-based media outlet founded in 1999 by broadcaster Alex Jones, built around The Alex Jones Show. The programme grew from local Austin radio into national syndication through the Genesis Communications Network, reaching more than a hundred stations at its peak, while the website became one of the internet's best-known alternative-talk destinations. Its content mixes conservative political commentary with conspiracy-themed programming, a combination that has made it both popular and widely criticised.
