Heartbeat FM is Dublin's love song station, devoted entirely to romantic music and slow ballads. It first launched in November 1986 as a pirate on 95.5 FM and quickly built a loyal following; a brief rebrand to Cara 95 in 1987 was reversed because listeners preferred the Heartbeat name. Forced off air at the end of 1988 by new broadcasting laws, it later returned as a pirate and under temporary licences, and today continues online, still branding itself 'the love song station'.
