HPR-1 is the flagship service of Hawaii Public Radio, heard on KHPR 88.1 in Honolulu and across a statewide network of transmitters. Hawaii Public Radio signed on in 1981 and now runs two programme streams; HPR-1 blends NPR news and talk with locally produced reporting on island affairs, plus classical and jazz in its schedule. It is the essential public radio service for the Hawaiian Islands, supported by members across the archipelago.
