CRI Radio is the English-language service of China Radio International, China's state international broadcaster founded on 3 December 1941. The English service itself began on 11 September 1947, transmitting from the Taihang Mountains, and went on to become famous worldwide as Radio Peking and later Radio Beijing before adopting the CRI name in 1993. Today the service streams news, current affairs and features around the clock — flagship shows include the news magazine The Beijing Hour, the panel discussion RoundTable and the daily drive-time show China Drive — plus the five-minute Chinese Studio language segment that follows many programmes.
