Coast Access Radio is the community access station for the Kāpiti Coast and Horowhenua, broadcasting on 104.7 FM from Pukerua Bay to Tokomaru and across to Foxton. On air since 1996 and governed by the Coast Access Radio Trust, it is one of twelve Community Access Media Alliance stations supported by NZ On Air. From studios in Waikanae's Mahara Place and a recording hub in Levin, local people make their own programmes — by, for and about the community — with priority given to women, youth, people with disabilities and minority groups under-represented in mainstream media.
