Classic FM (UK) has been the country's home of popular classical music since 7 September 1992, when it became the first national commercial station licensed in Britain. Owned by Global and broadcasting on 100–102 MHz FM from London, it favours famous melodies over full-length obscurities, and its listener-voted Hall of Fame each spring is a fixture of the classical calendar.
